The Jolly Hotel in Siena is centrally located, a few steps away from the
famous, fan shaped, Piazza del Campo, where the traditional Palio takes
place every year on 2nd July and 16th August - a frenetic and colourful
horse race, that dates back to medieval times, during which the
different town quarters compete against each other with almost fanatical
enthusiasm. The well-known historical palaces and churches, such as the
Duomo, as well as the museums and art galleries are all within walking
distance. Indeed, the hotel is so strategically located that it can also
be easily reached by car even though the city centre is reserved for
pedestrians only. Along the main street there are many boutiques
interspersed with antiques and craft shops. A classically styled hotel
with 126 air-conditioned bedrooms, private bathroom, satellite TV and
minibar while the public areas include a bar and restaurant serving
delicious Tuscan cuisine.
