Italian Language School

Non European Union citizens who intend to stay and study in Italy there are different options according to the length of stay.

Under three months stay: we suggest not to apply for a study visa. You can simply enter Italy as a tourist. Students from the following countries must apply for a Tourist Visa: Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, China, Colombia, Macedonia, Georgia, Marocco, Peru, Serbia, Montenegro, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Ukraine.

Over three months stay: people who want to study in Italy must present personally to the Embassy or Consulate to apply for a study visa.

The documents required are:
  1. a valid passport
  2. a certificate of enrolment from Linguaviva/Linguadue
  3. a declaration of available finances, sufficient to maintain the student during the period of study in Italy, authorized and registered by a public notary
  4. a letter (and a copy) from the bank indicating the relevant account numbers of the student or that of the parents, attesting to the student’s financial situation
  5. an internationally valid health insurance policy

One year stay: if students intend to stay in Italy for study reasons they must apply, before they leave, for a study visa type D according to the length of the studies. The Visa can be issued for a maximum stay of 365 days (one year).

Longer period stay: if students wish to study in Italy for longer periods (at universities or professional schools) they must apply before they leave for a study visa type D (365 days). It must be renewed in Italy each year with a multi-year certificate for study in Italy.

Transfert and Service
Students may choose to be met on arrival at the airport.
Students will be met by our professional staff and they will be escorted to their accommodation.
This service can be requested from the school upon enrolment.

Every month the schools organize a daily programme of activities exclusively for you.
You will have the possibility to broaden your knowledge of Italian culture, visit famous cities and to enjoy yourself with your new friends.
Your teachers will always be with you to help you improve your Italian and better understand Italian life and customs.
An art historian will take you on excursions to visit museums, world-renown works of art and places of historical interest.
Field trips are arranged to other cities in Italy or to local spots known for their beauty.
You can listen to afternoon lectures on Italian customs and current events or watch Italian films.
You can learn how to prepare delicious dishes of Italian cuisine.

Method
Our modern communicative approach is conceived to stimulate your interest in learning italian language.
The course contents cover all aspects of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
We usually concentrate on grammar in the first part of the classes with freer practice and skills work in the later parts.
Levels

There are 12 language levels ranging from beginner to proficient.
The Proficient level, corrisponding to level C2 of the Common European Framework and level 11-12 at  our system, is organized only in certain periods of the year and upon request from Universities or Higher Educational Institutes.
On your first day at school you take a specially designed written, listening and oral placement test, so that we can place you in the appropriate class for your language level.
We hold regular progress tests at the end of each level. These enable you and your teachers to measure your language development and evaluate your performance over a period of time.

11 80 You can take part effortlessy in any conversation or discussion and have good level of familiarity with some idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms.
C1 Advanced 10 80 You can formulate ideas and opinions with precision and relate your contribution skilfully to those of other speakers.You can present clear and detailed descriptions of complex subjects. You can understand specialised articles even when they are not related to your field. This level is required to enter the Italian speaking job market
9 80 You can express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.You can use the language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes.You can understand television programmes and films without too much effort.
B2 Upper
Intermediate
8 80 You can present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to your field of interest. You can explain a viewpoint on a topical issue. You can understand most tv news, current affairs programmes and the majority of films in standard dialect. This level is required to attend graduate and post-graduate Academic Programmes.
7 80 You can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible. You can take an active part in discussions with familiar contexts, accounting for and sustaining your views.
B1 Intermediate 6 80 You can enter unprepared into a conversation on familiar and of personal interest topics. You can narrate a story or relate the plot of a book or film and describe your reactions. You can understand the main points of many radio- tv programmes on current affairs. This level is required to attend the Internship Programme, the Preparatory Course for University Admission, Culinary Arts for professionals and vocational programmes in fashion and design.
5 80 You can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. You can understand most of the conversations on topics that are familiar, or of personal interest.
You can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters: work, school, leisure, etc.
A2 Elementary 4 80 You can handle very short social exchanges, participate in communicative situation, even though you can’t usually understand enough to keep the conversation going yourself.
This level is required to attend practical courses in Arts & Design, Art History and Culinary Arts for amateurs.
3 80 You can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities. You can describe in simple terms your family and other people, living conditions and job.
A1 Beginner 2 80 You can use simple phrases and sentences to describe or to ask for some things.
You can write a postcard or brief messages and read very short and simple texts.
1 80 You don't know the language or you can recognize familiar words.
